As the sign in the gallery below says, In all the world. No trip like this! Catalina Island is a rite of passage and the final race of the Southern California Outrigger Race Association’s 2026 season. Na Leo was there with two crews and an escort boat. Saturday, Na Leo’s coed crew rose at the crack of dawn to take the Moku Kai the 27 miles across the channel to Avalon on Catalina Island. And Sunday, Na Leo’s master’s men’s crew powered back to Newport Dunes, traversing 31 miles. It was a first Catalina experience for most of the crew and they did it with style. Congratulations: Ash, Zoie, Deborah, Hillarie, Natasha, Eric, Justin, Helme and Joey W., and Kahale, Chris, Brad, Ed, Kui, Phillip, Jon, Steen and Gregg!
